The 82nd edition of the Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California where all the biggest celebrity names showed up to make their presence known on the red carpet. The annual event, which gives acknowledgement to the best in show business with a gold statue known as the Oscar, is usually best described as a long and boring television show that pretty much fizzles out after the red carpet interviews. However, this year's Academy Awards celebration had drama and excitement, making it one of the highest rated Oscars in recent history.

And The Oscar Goes To...

The big winners, who are probably feeling a little hungover from all the champagne, were:

"The Hurt Locker", which took home the award for Best Picture.

Jeff Bridges, who captured the Best Actor award for his role in a film called "Crazy Heart".

The always beautiful and humble Sandra Bullock who took the Best Actress award for her heart-warming performance in "The Blind Side".

And the most surprising win of the night, which went for Best Director, came to Kathryn Bigelow, who became the first woman to take the prestigious award.
