Academy Awards Brings In Big Ratings

GPS Tracking Company Salutes This Year's Winners

OscarThe 82nd edition of the Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California where all the biggest celebrity names showed up to make their presence known on the red carpet. The annual event, which gives acknowledgement to the best in show business with a gold statue known as the Oscar, is usually best described as a long and boring television show that pretty much fizzles out after the red carpet interviews. However, this year's Academy Awards celebration had drama and excitement, making it one of the highest rated Oscars in recent history.

And The Oscar Goes To...

The big winners, who are probably feeling a little hungover from all the champagne, were:

"The Hurt Locker", which took home the award for Best Picture.

Jeff Bridges, who captured the Best Actor award for his role in a film called "Crazy Heart".

Californians Still Plagued By Unemployment

CAAccording to a press release obtained by real-time vehicle tracking distributor Tracking System Direct, California saw an increase in the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in the month of January, raising the state's unemployment rate to 12.5%. Even more alarming news surrounding the released statistic is that it now appears that 300,000 more people lost their jobs in December after the numbers were revised.

Currently, the national unemployment rate is approximately 9.7%, or nearly 25% less than the unemployment rate in the golden state.

Although there has not been a great deal of positive news coming out of California in regards to job production, the Federal government is doing what it can to extend unemployment benefits, passing the 4th round of unemployment extensions.

One thing some economists say is a bright spot is that California saw an increase of nearly 17,000 jobs in the construction industry, a sector that was hit extremely hard by the housing bubble burst and accompanied recession.

Many economists have said that they do not believe that the road to recovery has even begun, believing the unemployment situation will get worse before it gets better.

Tracking System Direct would like to extend it's thoughts and prayers to everyone effected by the great recession.

Jaycee Dugard Settling Into New Life

Healing Begins At Home For Entire Dugard Family

After being held in captivity for nearly 20 years, Jaycee Dugard and her family are now beginning to get their lives back in order. Dugard made headlines in the early 1990s when she was kidnapped while waiting for a school bus. Family and friends posted missing person flyers throughout the city they lived in, and spent countless days and sleepless nights trying to find Dugard.

After years and years continued to pass by, Jaycee's family still held out hope that she would one day return to her home.

After receiving anonymous tips from neighbors about a large tent like living area, police investigated the home of a man who lived near the Dugards named Phillip Garrido. Garrido was a known sex offender who had a prior record and should have been monitored closely via GPS tracking technology.

Law Enforcement Search For Evidence

GPS Tracking Chip Leads Police To Murder Suspects

GunLooking to piece together the missing events and evidence involved in a murder case, Ottawa police have been combing through wooded areas near Kemptville in search for a hand gun that was believed to be the weapon that took the life of young 19-year-old Mike Swan.

Swan, who shared a house with two other roommates, was shot and killed in his own home on February 22nd.

Police arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Swan when they accessed the GPS tracking chip in the victim's phone that had been stolen by the murderers. Ottawa police were able to arrest the suspects within hours of the murder because the tracking system chip provided the authorities their position in real-time.

After receiving an anonymous tip where a person stated seeing one of the suspects throw a gun out of the car window, police have been conducting extensive searches along the southbound side of Highway 416.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on the case to contact them immediately.
